Obituary of Joanne Myers

Joanne W. Myers, 80, of Troutville joined her heavenly family on Saturday, April 2, 2011. She was born in Lexington, Mass. on March 8, 1931. She will be having her next "family Friday night pizza dinner" in heaven. Left to honor her memory are her loving, caring, devoted husband of 61 years, William Myers "Cookie Man"; daughter, Linda Turner of Roanke; son, William Myers, Jr. and his wife Heather of Roanoke; granddaughters, Chris Pendleton of Middletown, Va.; Jamie Myers of Winchester; and Meghan O'Dell of Crestview, Fla.; great grandchildren, Kelsen Pendleton, Owen O'Dell, Ansley Pendleton, and Grady O'Dell; two nieces and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Burbidge of Melborne, Fla.; and Helen Ponton of Martha's Vineyard, Mass.; brothers, John Burbidge of N. Tonawanda, New York; and Bob Burbidge of S. Chatham, Mass; and her son-in-law, Johnny "J" Turner. The family offers a special thanks to the friends of Faith Alliance Church for their love and prayers throughout the years and to the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Arthritis Foundation P O Box 7669 Atlanta, Ga. 30357. A memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Faith Alliance Church 7505 Barrens Road Roanoke, Va. by the Rev. David Fraser. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 4th at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. 366-0707
