Charles I. "Skippy" Agner, 81, of Roanoke, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2011. He served in the U.S. Navy before working the remainder of his career as a draftsman at American Bridgeworks and Norfolk and Western Railroad in Roanoke. Whether it was cooking for friends and family, laughing with his wife and children, or spoiling his grandchildren, Skip filled everything he did with love. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer I. Agner, and mother, Mary Jeniece Agner (who he adored,) and his cousin, Pete Plunkett. Skip was very proud of his family, and he is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Agner; his two childen, Mark Agner and Mary Jaye Morgan and their spouses, Melissa and Jay; his five grandchildren, Mary Margaret Morgan, Emily Morgan, Jacob Agner, Mason Agner, and Mary Grace Agner; his cousins, Harry (Bid) Plunkett and wife Barbara, Sue Hill, and their families; and other family Isabelle Woods and Virginia Weimer. "We will miss him here but his love is forever with us, we carry it in our hearts". In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Wildlife Rescue C/O Dorothy Runion 5931 Cotton Hill Road Roanoke, Virginia 24018. A celebration of Skippy's life will be held 4 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2011 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. The Rev. Dave Rochford will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and -8 p.m. Thursday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
