I attended Hollie's Retirement cookout at the Clifton Forge armory years ago, and it seems like yesterday. He was a good Soldier and will be missed by all his friends. Condolences from my family to his family and may all rest in God's peace.

Hollie was a very dear Army buddy and friend. We fished and hunted together and had such a great time. He was like a brother, and I will miss him.

My condolences to the family and friends of Hollie. I served with Hollie for many years in the Guard. I shall have fond memories of him especially the years we worked together at Fort Pickett. He was highly knowledgeable in his field and highly respected.

We were sorry to hear of your loss. Sonny worked with Hollie at the Armory and Fort Picket and also spent many hours with him having fun too. He will be missed by his family and by the Cloverdale people. He was good friend and coworker, loved to have a good time in the old days.

My most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Hollie. Hollie was a soldier who could be depended on to complete a task on time and to standard and keep the organization informed of problems if they weren't solvable without outside help but there was little that Hollie could not do. It seems that our Guard family has been losing a lot of members lately and I have shared the following with one family as I have found some comfort personally in the thoughts of Henry Scott Holland, who was a professor of divinity at Oxford University. He said: Consider death as if I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way you always used. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without the ghost of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant...There is absolutely unbroken continuity. What is death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you- for an interval- somewhere near just around the corner.

My deepest sympathies to you in the loss of your father, grandfather and family member. I was proud and honored to serve with Chief Dulaney in the Virginia National Guard for many years. His knowledge and experience in logistics were extremely beneficial to me in the formation of the first Command Logistics Office at the Headquarters of the Virginia Army National Guard in Richmond. I was pleased to meet many of the family members when I officiated his retirement ceremony as we celebrated his outstanding military career. May God Bless you with his love and comfort during this time of loss.
