Carolyn Sue Obenchain Farmer, 69, of Roanoke passed away Friday, March 11, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy B. and Ruby Burnette Obenchain. She was a member of North Roanoke Baptist Church and retired from Wachovia Bank. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Kelly Wainwright Farmer of Roanoke; grandchildren, Lex and Ruby Farmer; brother and sister-in-law, Roy B. and Shirley Obenchain of Salem; Aunt and Uncle, Harry and Corrine Burnette of Roanoke; aunts, Ruby Hollandsworth of Salem; and Betty Obenchain of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and numerous friends and cousins including cousins Robin Obenchain and Beth Borenias. The family suggest that memorials be made to the Hirsherg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research 2990 S. Sepulveda Boulevard Suite 300C Los Angeles, Calif. 90064. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Dr. Darryl G. Crim and the Rev. Jake Roudebush. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
