Obituary of Burt Horne

Burt Cleveland (B.C.) Horne, of Blacksburg, March 9, 2011, at the age of 94. He was an Associate Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at Virginia Tech. Born in Salem, he graduated from Roanoke College and did his graduate work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His long Virginia Tech career was interrupted only by his service in the United States Navy in World War II. He was predeceased by his wife, Martha Kirchner Horne; and his sister, Margaret Rowland. His is survived by a niece, Lynn Rowland Bagg, of New York, N.Y. At the request there will be no services. A gathering to remember B.C. will be held at a later date. Friends are also invited to call at the home between 3 and 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2011.
