Obituary of Mary DeSmidt

DeSmidt, Mary Elizabeth, age 37, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Roanoke, Va. passed away Thursday evening, February 24, 2011. Our Mary slipped away after 37 years of laughing, loving and enjoying life. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and a Virginia Tech Hokie at heart. She loved teaching math, baking, gardening, her cats Pan and Po and was passionate about photography. She leaves her cherished soul-mate, friend, and husband of 15 years, Hans DeSmidt; mother, Cathy Keith of Roanoke, Va; father, Richard Keith of Florida; sister, Amy Keith; brother, John Keith both of Roanoke, Va; nephews, Dylan and Ryan, whom she adored; special aunt, Muffin Clinevell; grandmother, Betty Keith of Fincastle, Va; her wonderful father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Carla DeSmidt of Rockbridge County, Va; special friends, Helen Hayes of Knoxville, Larissa Simmons, Elisa Keith, Kent Dawson, Stephanie Parker and Jen Coltellino; her "Tuesday Morning Group" in Knoxville and all her family and friends who have loved and prayed for her. A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00pm, Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, Va. 24019, 540 366 0707.
