Obituary of Jerry Smith

Jerry Townsend Smith, 71, of Roanoke passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011. He was preceded in death by his father, Herman William Smith, brother, Don Barry Smith and uncle Fred Henry Smith. Surviving are his mother, Beatrice Noel Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and David Wirt of Mooresville, NC; son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Amy Smith of Florida; grandchildren, Caroline, Courtney, and Christine Wirt, Jake and Leah Smith. Jerry graduated from William Fleming High School and attended, Duke University, Virginia Military Institute and graduated from Virginia Tech. He was the former owner of Automotive Paint and Supply Company. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the SPCA 1340 Baldwin Avenue Roanoke, Virginia 24012. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2011 in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Kevin Wirt. There will be no visitation.
