Herbert D. (Herb) Mayo, 93, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, February 16, 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Spelts Mayo. Surviving are his children, Darleen Mayo Fiel and husband Andrew of Wirtz; Charles Mayo and wife Paulette and Donald Mayo and wife Denise all of Live Oak, California; Alan Mayo and wife Linda of Linden, Utah; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren including Tamra Alfer of Hardy and Terri Rhea of Roanoke; sisters, Merry Palmer of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Iva Mae Gee of Hutchinson, Kansass; brother, Paul Strickland of Tuscon, Arizona; sister-in-law, Doris Mayo of Colorado Springs, Colorado; also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, February 24, 2011 in Mountain View Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory. 366-0707
