James (Jimmie) C. LeFew, 89, of Salem went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 4, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester M. and Sara Goode LeFew; sisters, Evelyn Welch and a baby sister. Mr. LeFew was a hard working man who loved the Lord and his family. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Roanoke for over 50 years. He was the owner and operator of Virginia Home Equipment and delivered papers for the Roanoke Times. He also served proudly in the United States Army Air Corps during WW II. Surviving are his loving wife Priscilla; daughter, Marlene LeFew Davis and husband Philip; sisters, Geneva Nelson, Bernice Haney; and by loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the 4th floor east of Richfield Retirement Center and Drew of Homestead Health Care for their care and support during this time. Flowers are welcome or donations in his name to the First Baptist Church of Roanoke. The family will receive friends Monday, February 7, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home. Services celebrating Jimmie's life will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at Simpson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
