Harliss G. Lotts, Sr. 76, of Roanoke passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis C. and Etta Pearl Lotts, and brothers Lewis Hampton Lotts and Miles Lotts. Mr. Lotts worked as a brick mason for most of his life. He was an avid James River Fisherman and lover of Nascar, especially Cale Yarborough and Dale Earnhardt. Surviving are his children, Deborah Lotts Irby and husband Jim of Manassas; Terri Lotts Phlegar and husband Alan of Vinton; Cynthia Lotts McCarthy and husband Dave of Chesapeake; H. Garland Lotts, Jr. and wife Tracie; and Mark Lotts of Roanoke; grandchildren, Lauren Strepka, Travis Irby, Adam Phlegar, Kyle Lotts, Brooke Seale, Hayden McCarthy, and Lana McCarthy; brother, James Lotts and wife Judy of Mooresville, NC; sister, Joyce Camper and husband Sammy of Sanford, NC. Aunts Gladys DeLong and Elizabeth Price of Roanoke; former wife Ellen S. Lotts and a number of nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the nursing staff at Salem Health and Rehab Center for their care and many acts of kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to a charity of the donor's choice. A memorial service will be conducted 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by Pastor Jason Grimes. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
