Dave Alex Gibson, 77, of Catawba passed away peacefully, Monday January 24, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Dave was born July 2, 1933 in Whitewood, Virginia a son of the late Alex and Mary Magdalene Gibson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Ruby, brothers and sisters, Jennie, Rena, William, Marion, Calvin, and Orson. Dave was an avid hunter and never met a stranger. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to share his jokes with anyone who would listen. He was a faithful member of the Church of God of Prophecy in New Castle and loved the Lord with all his heart. Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Dewey and Paula Gibson of Catawba; Gary and Ramona Gibson of Goodview; daughter, Beverly Gibson of Catawba; two grandchildren, Brandy and Heath; two great grandchildren, Adam and Christian; many nieces, nephews and friends including his church family. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Donald Brown. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
