Obituary of Reid Trail

Reid B. Trail, 71, of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at his home. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Cicero Gerome and Thursy Ida Trial, six brothers, Ivan, Claude, Woodson, David, Virgil and Douglas Trail; sisters, Bethel Welch, Frances Saunders, and Lorene DiLauro; sisters-in-law, Betty Jean, Doris Jean, and Bessie Trail. Mr. Trail was the owner and operator of Rapid Dry Cleaners for 17 years. Left to mourn their loss are his wife of 51 years, Betty Jean Linkenhoker Trail; daughters, Donna Sue Penley and Vickie Lynette Mollicone; son, William Reid Trail and friend Diane of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; grandchildren, Betty Anne Cousins and friend Jason, Katie Penley, all of Drewyville, Va.; Michael Cousins, Shawn Penley, Vincent Mollicone all of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; brothers, Lewis Mack Trail, Leo Trail and wife Darlene sisters, Louise Glascock and husband Marshall; Fay Poe and husband Del all of Richmond; sister, Virgie Martin of Roanoke, Va.; brother-in-law, Danny DiLauro of Richmond; sister-in-law, Viola Trail; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John Linkenhoker of Eagle Rock; Grace and Charles Shull of Roanoke; Joyce and Edward Huffman of Fincastle, Mary and Bernard Thomas, Martha and Allen Clark, Barbara Bradley all of Eagle Rock; and a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2011 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. E. E. "Dick" Jones. Interment will follow in Troutville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
