Eva Woolwine Nichols Johnson, 70, of Glade Hill (formerly of Roanoke) went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, December 16, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Ruby Woolwine, sisters, Ellen Webb and Louise Woolwine, a brother, Bill Woolwine and a grandson, Joel Wayne Nichols. Mrs. Johnson retired from Roanoke City Public Schools. She was a member of Riverdale Baptist Church. Surviving are her sons, Mark Wayne Nichols and wife Tia of Salem; Christopher David Nichols of Glade Hill, and Joel Steven Nichols of Roanoke County; grandchildren, Dylan Wayne Nichols, and Dustin R. Farmer; sisters, Lena Scyphers of Roanoke; Laverne Woolwine of Glade Hill; Sylvia DeHart and husband Jack of Salem; brothers, Cliff Woolwine of Roy, Utah; Fred Woolwine of Roanoke; and Sid Woolwine and wife Joan of Cocoa, Florida; and a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Good Samaritan Hospice 2408 Electric Road Roanoke, Va. 24018 or to the American Cancer Society 2840 Electric Road Roanoke, Va. 24018. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2010 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Andrew Wright. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
