Gene Allen Mitchem, 56, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, December 2, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl K. and Mildred Cunningham Mitchell. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Joyce Faye Jennings Mitchem; sons Scottie Allen Mitchem, of Virginia Beach; Steven Allen Mitchem of Roanoke; grandson, Brandon Allen Mitchem; sisters, Donna Wells and Carletta Mitchem of Tennessee; brothers, Thomas (Buddy) Mitchem of Salem; Robert (Bobby) Mitchem and Michael (Red) Mitchem both of Roanoke; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
