Obituary of Eugene Hart

Eugene H. (Gene) Hart, 75, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010. He was born in Roanoke, Virginia on January 17, 1935, a son of the late Ralph H. and Esther Harris Hart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Louise H. (Wezy) Hart, his brothers, Ralph Jr. and Bernard Hart, a sister, Vivian Hart Shelton, nephews, Rick Shelton and Derrick Beard. Mr. Hart retired from the Alexandria, Virginia Police Department with the rank of Sergeant. He dispatched from the Prince William County Police Department for three years. From 1990 to 1996 he dispatched for the Roanoke County Police Department, retiring again in December of 1996. He was a member of the Retried Police, Fire, and Sheriffs of the City of Alexandria and Fort Lewis Christian Church. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Shari Lynn and Brent Good, of Roanoke; granddaughter, Kim Good; sisters, Shirley Hart Doyle, of Mississippi and Frances Hart McAllister and Husband, Eddie, of Roanoke; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Fort Lewis Christian Church, 2931 West Main Street, Salem Virginia 24153. Funeral services will be conducted 11 am Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory, 5160 Peters Creek Road, by the Rev. Terry Elkins. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory.
