Mildred (Millie) Dunbar 80 of Roanoke went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 15, 2010. Millie is the daughter of the late Harold L. Sr. and Mary E. Wray Carter. Was also preceded by her husband, Hubert W. Dunbar Sr.; son Hubert W. Dunbar, Jr.; sisters, Marie Crowe, Fran C. Davis and a brother, Harold Carter. She was a member of Hollins Road Baptist Church for 15 years and gave 20 years of service at Friendship Manor Nursing Home. Was a very loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, dear friend and along with her family of the Skate-a-Drome will be missed dearly. Surviving are her daughter, Sharon Hylton and husband Robert, Hardy; grandchildren Michelle Stover and husband Jimmy, Salem, Karen Ellis, Roanoke; great grandchildren, Brandon and Jacob Stover; niece, Bobbie Lee Whaley and husband Neal, Bobbies daughter Lisa and her son, Christopher; nephews, Jimmy Carter, Roanoke, Duane Carter, Richmond, Bruce Carter, GA.; very dear friends, Beverly Johnson, Lena Syphers both of Roanoke and special neighbors, Helen, Cindy, Dot, George, Larry, Gary and Mrs. Fitzgerald. The family would like to give a special Thank you to Dr. Richard Thomas Edwards. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to the American Lung Association in her name. A memorial service celebrating Millie's life will be held 5:00pm Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Hollins Road Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Washington and Rev. Charles Doyle officiating.
