Obituary of Betty Turner

Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Betty Oyler Turner, 78, of Salem went to her eternal home on Tuesday, November 2, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Mary Moses Oyler, sisters, Erline, Margaret, and Gladys, brother, Hampton, (Hamp) and her husband Joseph W. Turner. She was a member of Penn Forest Wesleyan Church and for many years she and her husband worked tirelessly with a mission to Native Americans. Surviving are her son, Bobby L. Turner of Salem; daughter, Brenda T. Hampton and husband Don of Roanoke; granddaughters, Marla and Kara Turner; great granddaughter, Taya Marks; sisters, Doris Wimmer, Lottie Turner, Norma Sheets and husband Brad; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Adams and husband Babe; brother-in-law- and sister-in-law, Oscar and Barbara Turner; and a former sister-in-law, Betty Turner. Without the care of Cindy at Home Instead Senior Care, Pearl, Elizabeth, and Shanese of Generation Solutions; and the never ending devotion of her sisters, a very special sister-in-law and her son (who no doubt put his life on hold for the past years and a half to make sure his mom could stay in her home), Betty would not have survived as long as she did. We will always be grateful for your many acts of kindness and compassion. Also a very special "Thanks" to the doctors, nursing staff and especially Rhonda and Bobbie at the Fresenius Dialysis Center in Salem for their commitment to their profession, and for allowing her to continue her treatment for as long as she did. A graveside service will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2010 in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Jake Roudebush and the Rev. Brian Gordon. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. On line condolences may be sent to www.simpsonfuneral.com.
