Jim Johnston 79 of Roanoke went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 26, 2010. He was preceded by his parents, Sarah B. and Shuler Johnston and a brother, Clinton Johnston. Jim was a faithful employee for 27 years driving with Loomis Armor Truck Service. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved being with his family. Surviving are his wife of many years, Bobbie Johnston; son, Steven Johnston and wife Dreama of Pulaski; daughter, Teresa Light and companion Lester Byrd of Roanoke; grandchildren, Katelyn Johnston and Matthew Johnston; great grandchildren, Christopher and Jordan Johnston; sisters, Alva Lucas of Blacksburg, Francis Allen of Pearisburg along with a host of other friends and relatives. The family would like to give a special thank you to Pastor Melvin Collins, Marshall Price and Paul Hill for their care, support and who visited him during his illness. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in his name to Valley View Wesleyan Church, 2302 Oakland Blvd. Roanoke, VA. 24012. A service celebrating Jim's life will be held 11:00am, Friday, October 29, 2010 at Simpson Funeral Home with Pastors Melvin Collins and Art Good officiating. Friends may visit with the family Thursday, October 28, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the funeral Home. On line condolences may be sent to the family at www.simpsonfuneral.com.
