Clinton Ewell "Kent" Austin 79 of Rocky Mount went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, October 10, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Homer and Daisy McGhee Austin. Mr. Austin served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded the Army of Occupational Medal with the Japan clasp, the Korean Service Medal, one Bronze Campaign Star. and the U.N. Service Medal. He retired after working many years in the sheet metal business. Surviving are his children, Freda Nichols and husband Sonny, Dennis Austin all of Ferrum; Angela Whalen, Cindy Guilliams and husband Garry, Amanda Austin all of Calloway; grandchildren, Adam and Amy Nichols, Phillip Austin, Seth and Christy Palmer, Josh Guilliams, Russell, Elizabeth and Heather Whalen, Keri Austin and Andrew Glovier; great grandchildren, Julian Nichols, Nick Holly, Paige, Blake and Hunter Mickles; brothers, Dan Austin and wife Leone of St. Petersburg, Florida; Bill Austin and wife Shirley of Boones Mill, Jerry Larribee and wife Irene of Rocky Mount; sister, Clara Mae Frame of Snow Creek and special loved ones, Rowena Cooper, Paul Whalen and Kim Anderson. A memorial service will be conducted Noon, Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, VA. 24151 by Chaplain Ronald Michaux. Inurnment well be in Franklin Memorial Park. The Family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00pm Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Flora Funeral Service.
