Obituary of Anna Brooks

Anna (Ann) Housman Brooks, 81, of Roanoke County, went to Heaven Sunday, September 26, 2010. She was born September 12, 1929 to the late A.B. Housman Sr. and Frances Nash Housman. She was a charter member of North Roanoke Baptist Church of Roanoke and served there working with children for a number of years and an active member of a Wednesday Morning Bible Class since 1976. She worked for the C&P Telephone Co. in Lynchburg, Virginia and later for Sears in Roanoke as a switchboard operator from 1967 to 1986. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert (Herb) A. Brooks Jr. in 2006 and a son, David L. Brooks in 1996. She is survived by two sons; Donald W. Brooks of Roanoke and Dennis R. Brooks and wife Loma A. of Salem, Virginia; brother, A.B. (Jack) Housman and wife Janice B. of Madison Heights, Virginia; sister in law, Evelyn B. Godsey of Lynchburg, Virginia and brother in law, Ron E. Brooks of Texas; four grandchildren, L. Ashley Brooks of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Amber B. Loope and husband Jeffery N. of Roanoke, April B. Basham and husband Jeremy G. of Salem, Virginia and Adam M. Brooks and wife Candice P. of Roanoke; a grandson, London Basham and a nephew, Eric Housman and wife Donna of Charlotte, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, suggested memorial contributions may be made to the North Roanoke Baptist Church Building Fund, 6402 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke Virginia 24019. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Simpson Funeral Home on Peters Creek Road on Tuesday the 28th. The graveside will be private at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens conducted by the Dr. Darryl G. Crim.
