Obituary of Jeffery Murphy

Jeffery Scott Murphy, 41, of Wirtz passed away Monday, September 6, 2010 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on December 13, 1968 a son of Jack Dean Murphy and Pat Fletcher Murphy. Jeff was of the Baptist Faith. He was the owner of Action Auto Painting of Virginia, Inc., served as Vice President of the Virginia Independent Auto Dealers Association for 8 years, and was affiliated with the Williamson Road Area Business Association. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed, racing, hunting, fishing, traveling, and observing nature. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Dean Murphy and a brother, Jackie Dean Murphy, Jr. Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Wendi Murphy of Wirtz; mother, Pat Murphy; sisters, Barbara Carlton, Patricia Compton and husband Allen all of Clintwood, Va.; brother, Mike Batkins and wife Leeann of Newport News; nieces, Crystal Barnette, Amber Carlton, Heather Murphy, Allison Batkins, Brittany Dotson, and Kayla Dotson; nephews, Michael Batkins, Ryan Murphy, Justin and Andrew Dotson; beloved Goddaughter, Autumn Shea Perrin; and numerous other nieces, nephews and other family members. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2010 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. A funeral service will be conducted following the visitation at 7 p.m. by the Rev. Lynn Vanover and the Rev. Joe Glenn Sluss. Interment will be in Murphy Family Cemetery in Clintwood, Virginia at 2 PM. Pallbearers will be: Kevin Dotson, Chris Perrin, Rex Montgomery, Allen Compton, Sonny Arrington, Ryan Murphy and Roger Murphy. Honorary pallbearers will be Junior (Harry) Cundiff, Joey Brown, and the employees of Action Auto Painting. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home & Crematory. 366-0707
