Henry F. Harman, 78, of Roanoke (formerly of Richmond) passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents, Col.Asher and Mattie Harman; and a sister, Frances Ray. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Roanoke and the class of 1955 at Virginia Military Institute. Mr. Harman had a long career in residential and commercial real estate. He was a past President of the Roanoke Valley Board of Realtors. He served as Scout Master in Richmond,and with Troop # 1 in Roaoke at First Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Barbara Harman, children, Jon Harman of Lovettsville, Va., Bill Harman and wife Jayne of Roanoke, and Ann Hinchee and husband Jeff, of Salem; daughter-in-law, Leslie Harman; grandchildren, Nicholas and Rachel Harman, Paige Harman, and Taylor and Allyson Hinchee; brother, Col. Asher Harman and wife Lili of Winterville, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The funeral servicewill be conducted 2 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2010, in the Lapsley Chapel at First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Robert Smith. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road Roanoke, Va. 540-366-0707.
