William Lawrence (Larry) Hager, 70, went to be with the Lord on July 14, 2010 in Roanoke Virginia. He was born May 20, 1940 in Williamson, West Virginia. He grew up in Dunbar and Charleston, West Va. He attended West Virginia State College and served two years in the United States Army, stationed in Germany during tense Cold War days. He worked in sales for a digital and business computer company and never met a stranger, and was loved by all who knew him and were a part of his wonderful life. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Frank and Dorothy Hager; as well as his sister in law Phyllis Bias Warner. Surviving is his wife of 47 years, Linda Bias Hager, brother Donald R. Hager, sister Patricia Sampson and husband Fred, brother in law Lucian Bias, sister in law Gladys Bias Pitchford and husband Joe, nine special nieces and nephews and six great nieces and nephews. Larry was especially thankful for the fine treatment he received by the staffs of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital as well as Friendship Community and for the special help given to him and Linda by the Lucian Bias Family. Funeral services for the devout Christian will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday July 19, 2010, in the chapel at Simpson Funeral Home with the Reverend Fred "Chaplin Fred" Ellsworth officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens mausoleum. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Noon Monday July 19, 2010 at Simpson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests be made to the Salvation Army or the Roanoke Rescue Mission.
