Richard William DeReu 81 of Roanoke passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday September 25, 2014. He was preceded by his loving wife of 50 years, Murriel Love DeReu and a grandson, Christian Michael William DeReu.
Surviving are his daughter, Diane DeReu-Foley and husband Joe of Salem, a son, Douglas DeReu and wife Cecy Castruccio-DeReu of the Virgin Islands; granddaughters, Tessa Foley, Maia Foley, Chrystal Harned and husband Peter; great grandson, Layne Harned; close companion, Elizabeth Woodruff of Roanoke; brother, Gordon DeReu of N.Y. and a nephew, David DeReu.
Memorials may be made to the Salem Animal Shelter in Richard's memory.
