William A. (Bill) Manspile, Sr. 90 of Roanoke passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014, surrounded by the love and support of his family. Bill was a retired painter, served in the U S Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War and was a Chosin Reservoir Survivor. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, Todd Clements. Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Shirley T. Manspile; daughters, Carol Allman, Sheila Clements and husband Sam, Belinda West and husband Lanny; son, William A. Manspile, Jr. Also surviving are seven granddaughters, twelve great grandchildren and two special friends, Lisa and Nancy. A special thanks to the doctors, nurses and numerous caregivers provided by the VA Medical Center of Salem. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Life Church 7422 Deer Branch Road, Roanoke, Va. by Pastor Joe Copolo. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
