He was a lifelong resident of Roanoke and lifetime member of Melrose Baptist Church where he was a dedicated Youth Sunday School teacher, deacon, and faithful choir member. He attended VPI and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Okinawa at the end of the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Norfolk-Southern Railway after 42 years of service. Julian was an avid outdoorsmen who enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing, and he loved singing and listening to music. He took great joy in serving and helping others.
