Joseph H. Scott, Sr. "KI4ALA" 74 of Roanoke passed away Thursday June 19, 2014 at home. His son, Joseph H. Scott, Jr., and his wife, Deborah L. Scott, who passed away December 29, 2012, preceded him. Mr. Scott is survived by his children, a son, Michael W. Scott and his wife, Mary of Bristol, TN., daughter, Teresa E. Carroll and Ronald Gibson of Roanoke; grandchildren, Steven T. Edwards and fiancée Carol Lewis, Matthew Canter, Amanda Cantor and fiancé Richard Logsdon, Charles Scott, Cammy Scott; great grandchildren, Sylis Edwards, Jacob Young, Christopher Young, and Katelynn Logsdon; sisters, Mary Fordyce, Carolyn Kidd, Leota Nuckols and Barbara Bradley, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe served proudly in the United States Navy and was a member of the Roanoke Valley Amateur Radio Club, W4CA. A very loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, he will be dearly missed by all. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the many friends for helping Joe to heal after his loss of his dear wife of 49 years, Deborah. In addition, a thank you to all the family, neighbors, and friends for their prayers and support during this difficult time. A funeral service celebrating Mr. Scott's life will be held 11:00am Monday June 23, 2014 in Simpson Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Counts officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date. Friends may visit with the family Sunday June 22, 2014 from 5:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
