Obituary of Don Meador

Donald (Don) Meador 77 of Roanoke County went to his heavenly home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 19, 2012. He was preceded by his parents, Virgil and Lizzie Meador; sister, Thelma Ellis; brothers Robert, Lafayette, Carlton and Franklin Meador. Don retired from Singer Furniture after 20 years of service then went to work and retired from the McDonalds Corp. after 10 years of service. He was a member of Melrose Baptist Church and Grace Sunday School class and a wonderful husband, father, grandfather who was very proud of his family especially his grandson Wade. He will be dearly missed by all. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 27 years Cathy Meador; children, Davida Wickline and husband Weslie of Hardy, Donald Edward Meador, Jr. and wife Tiffany of Roanoke County; grandchild, Wade Jennings Wickline; brother-in-law, Clinton Maxwell of Roanoke County; brother, Leslie Meador of Roanoke; sisters, Laurice Dillon of Vinton, Lois Scott, Dorothy Hurt of Moneta. The family would like to thank the Berkshire Healthcare, Friendship Healthcare and the Palliative Care Unit at Roanoke Memorial Hospital for their care and the Grace Sunday School Class for their support during this time. Family suggests memorials be made to Melrose Baptist Church, 3520 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, Va. 24019 in Don's name. A Memorial service to celebrate Don's life will be held at a later date at the church.
