Verna R. Daugherty, 90, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, January 14, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Roberts and Annabelle Adamczyk, brother, Anson Roberts, sister, Charlotte Crotser, infant daughter, Barbara Jean Bailey and her beloved cat, Midnight. Mrs. Daugherty retired from General Electric after more than 28 years of service. She was a member of the Hillcrest Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and an active member of Melrose Baptist Church. Surviving are her sons, Buddy Bailey and wife Lois of Roanoke; Larry Bailey and wife Paulette of Lynchburg; grandchildren, Michael Bailey of Roanoke; Heather Bailey Bowen and husband Dave of Lynchburg; Kimberly Bailey of Lacey, Washington; Amy Taylor and husband Pete of Roanoke; great grandchildren, Skye Bailey of Roanoke; Miles Bowen and Sydney Bowen both of Lynchburg; McKenzie Taylor and Brooklyn Taylor both of Roanoke; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Larry Sprouse and the Rev. Brenda Rowe. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
