Obituary of Alfred Mitchell

Alfred (Mitch) Mitchell 92 of Roanoke went to be with the Lord on Tuesday March 25, 2014. He is the son of the late Jarvey and Bernice Mitchell and was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Mitchell; brother, Junior Mitchell and a sister, Joy Wiseman. Alfred served proudly in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from the Postal Service with 30 years of service. He loved to mow his yard and just being outdoors. Alfred always put his family first. Alfred and Mildred had a very loveable relationship and were inseparable, he always had a smile on his face and loved life to the fullest. A wonderful, loving, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend that will be dearly missed by all. Surviving are his four children, A.J. Mitchell and wife Janet, Pam Haley and husband Charles, Melissa Jarels, Gerard Mitchel and wife Sandy; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sister, Gloria Moran; two brothers, Lax Mitchell and wife Sunnie, Earl Sturgill and wife Nancy; sister-in-law, Nancy Mitchell; a special friend, Sandra Mitchell, along with his faithful feline companion, Tina. A graveside service will be held 2:00pm Friday March 28, 2014 in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Rev. Harold Cook officiating.
