Barbara Ann Sluss Smith, 68, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Monday, March 17, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Daisy Sluss, a grandson, Daniel Davis and numerous brothers and sisters. For a number of years Barbara was employed as a security guard with Burns Security. Surviving are her children, Jessie Davis and wife Phoebe of Roanoke; Kimberly Davis of Vinton; Melinda Taylor and husband Darin of Roanoke; grandchildren, Kori Davis and Brittany Burton; brothers, Donald Sluss and wife Sandy, Harry Sluss, of Tazewell; Terry Sluss and wife Sandy of Pocahontas; sisters, Audrey Hinkle and Howard, and Juanita Johnson all of Pocahontas. Numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from noon Thursday until service time at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
