Alda Porterfield Kidd, 93, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, January 3, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Burke and Fannie Leedy Porterfield, husband, John H. Kidd, son, Frank R. Kidd, grandson, Ted Linkous, brother, Burke, and sisters, Frances, Margaret, and Naomi. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Kidd worked as a school teacher in the Roanoke Schools. She was a longtime devoted member of Shenandoah Baptist Church. Surviving are her children, Susan Kingery and husband Kenneth of Roanoke; John H. Kidd and wife Deborah of Daleville; Jenny Kay Kidd of Seattle, Washington; great grandchildren, Drake and Garrett Boykin, Luke Kingery, Joshua and Christopher David Boykin; Davis Emory Kidd, and Katherine Kidd. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Shenandoah Baptist Church, for Camp Eagle Development 6520 Williamson Road Roanoke, Va. 24019. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2012 in Sherwood Memorial Park by Pastors Robert Alderman and Albin Crutchfield. There will be no visitation. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707.
