Emma White, 79, of Roanoke went home to be with her Lord, Saturday, December 31, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents John Raymond and Ethel Wiggington Coleman and a brother, Essley Coleman. She was a former employee of General Electric. Emma was a longtime, active member of Hollins Road Baptist Church. Her hobbies included; bingo, talking on the telephone with her many friends and family members, and most of all spoiling her grandchildren. Surviving are her son, Rodger Jackson and wife Gayle; daughter, Deborah Jean Thompson and husband Micah; grandchildren, Dakota Jackson, Coleman Thompson, and Madeline Thompson all of Roanoke; brother, John (Ray) Coleman and wife Hazel of Spencer, Va.; sister, Loretta Doss of Hampton; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m Tuesday, January 3, 2011 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Mark Washington. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Simpson Funeral Home. 366-0707
