Obituary of Doretha Hatcher Holley

Doretha Hatcher Holley, 82, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, March 12, 2024. She was preceded in death by her dear husband of 58 years, Fred H. Holley, Jr., as well as her parents and brother.

Doretha was a member of Bonsack Baptist Church, where she served on the Compassion Team, and worked in the Food Pantry. She had been a church organist in the Roanoke Valley for over 45 years.

She is survived by her favorite daughter and son-in-law, Sara H. and Jeff Kennedy; favorite grandson Thomas Kennedy; favorite granddaughter Elizabeth Kennedy Clemo (Drew); favorite great-granddaughter Lily Rae Clemo; niece, Melissa Welch; brother-in-law, Andy Holley; sister-in-law Alice Roberts.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made in Doretha’s name to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering for Foreign Missions, Bonsack Baptist Church, 4845 Cloverdale Road Roanoke Virginia 24019.

Services will be held Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 11 am at Bonsack Baptist Church with Pastor Danny Quirin and Pastor Chris Cadenhead officiating, interment will follow services at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 13, 2024, from 6-8 pm at Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Chapel.
