Obituary of Ann M. (Claiborne) Henry

Ann M. (Claiborne) Henry, age 95, of Roanoke VA, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2024 at Spring Tree Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the loving wife of the late Walter P. Henry Sr. of Mount Holly, NJ.

 

Ann was born in Merchantville New Jersey on March 251928 and was the daughter of the late Abner Claiborne Sr. and Annie Louise McDade. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Eastampton Township New Jersey before moving to Roanoke, Va. She attended St. Philip Lutheran Church in Roanoke, Va. Before retiring, Ann worked in the New Jersey Public school system and public library system. Ann loved watching sports, from football to tennis. She enjoyed reading, dancing, music and was very creative. She loved to work word puzzles. Above all, Ann cherished her family and loved spending time with each member of the family.

 

Loving mother and grandmother, Ann is survived by her children David Henry and wife Renee Henry, Elizabeth Leonard and husband Steven Leonard; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She is remembered today by many other family members. She was preceded in death by her siblings Abner Claiborne Jr., and Betty C. Burnette.

 

A Funeral Service in celebration of Ann’s life will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Philip Lutheran Church, 8115 Williamson Road, Roanoke, VA 24019 with Rev. David C. Derrick and Rev. Laura Swanson officiating.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ann’s memory can be made to your charity of choice.
