Obituary of Amy Sullivan

Please share a memory of Amy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Amelia (Amy) Irene Sulivan, of Roanoke VA, age 82, died on February 3, 2024, surrounded by family.  She is preceded in death by her mother and father, William Earnest (Ernie) and Irene Goss Colbert, her sister & husband, Wilma and James Cavalucci, and her husband of 60 years, Dr. Henry (Hank) John Sullivan.  She is survived by her brother & wife, William (Bill) and Cynthia Colbert, her daughter & husband, Susan and Michael Burnett, her daughter & husband, Kimberly and Michael Murray and her son & wife, Matthew and Beth Sullivan.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christian and Connor Burnett and Rachael Murray.

Born in Pittsburgh PA, she graduated from Bridgeville High School.  She worked at Reliable Savings and Loan in Bridgeville PA., married Hank Sullivan and bought a house in Bridgeville where they raised Susan and Kim.  Matt was born after the family moved to Huntington WV in 1969.  She watched children in her home for teachers at Marshall University and enjoyed the Gourmet Group and her morning bowling group.  In 1976, she was an organizer of the mother-daughter bridal fashion show through the Women of the Church at Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church.  The family then moved to Roanoke VA in 1978.  She enjoyed her bridge groups and spending time with friends and family.  She worked for several real estate companies until she retired in 2021.  She enjoyed singing in the choir, leading youth group, and was a Deacon and Elder at Salem Presbyterian Church.  As we miss her already, we consider her a faithful servant, a devoted wife, a terrific mother, a welcoming friend, a supportive mother-in-law, and a wonderful grandmother.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 11:00 am at Salem Presbyterian Church.  A reception will follow the service in celebration of her life.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to:  the Brain Injury Association of America at biausa.org or Salem Presbyterian Church at salempres.org
