Obituary of Bettie Odell Barnard
Bettie Sink Barnard, 81, joined the Church Triumphant on Friday, January 26, 2024. She is survived by her husband, Jesse “Thomas” Barnard; daughters, Dana Barnard Staton (Ronnie) and Debra Barnard Henderlite and husband Joe Gray; grandchildren, Tomas Deayn Henderlite and fiancée Samantha Powell, and Kayla Michele Staton and special friend, Chris Campbell; great grandson, Jackson Tyler Campbell and one on the way, Jesse Deayn Henderlite.
Bettie was predeceased by her mother, Mamie Sink Davis; stepfather, Thomas J. Davis, who was very special to her; and father, Archie Delmas Sink.
Bettie’s love for God and her faith was most important to her. Also important to her was joining fellow believers at her church, First Evengelical Presbyterian Church, which was the highlight of her day. Before her health declined, she had been very active in church at Green Ridge Presbyterian where she served in many ways as Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer, Women’s Moderator, plus many other functions.
Two of her favorite accomplishments were the youth spaghetti fundraiser which provided funds for youth to attend summer church camp. The other thing was to lead the Women’s Quilt Project to make quilts for The Rescue Mission beds. A total of 42 quilts were made and presented.
The family will have a Visitation on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home (Peters Creek).
