Obituary of Danny Lee Donahue

Danny Lee Donahue, 77, departed to his heavenly home on January 9, 2024, after fighting a long battle with dementia. He was born on June 15, 1946, in Hotchkiss, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents Freeman Lee and Angeline Shrewsberry Donahue; son, Danny Lee Donahue II; brother, Larry Edward Donahue.

Danny is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia Raines “Pat” Donahue; daughter, Patricia Lynn Donahue; grandsons, Jonathan Lee Donahue (Danielle), William Austin Wilmer; great-grand daughter Ellianna Rae Donahue; son-in-law William Todd Wilmer; his dog Buster Brown; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, brother and sisters-in-law, and church family.

Danny was a member of Hollins Road Baptist Church where he actively served as a deacon for twenty years. He served in various ministries. Danny had several hobbies including knitting hats for school children and assembling jewelry which he shared crosses with many. He was a humble man who loved the Lord and his family. He liked to do and give to others.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 11 am at Hollins Road Baptist Church, with Pastor Mark Washington and Juan Barr officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Good Samaritan Hospice (2408 Electric Road Roanoke, Va. 24018) or to Hollins Road Baptist Church (3502 Old Mountain Road Roanoke, VA 24019).
