Obituary of David William Clark

David William “Bill” Clark, 72, of Vinton, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 7, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Eleanor; and brother, Tom Clark.  Also preceding him in death were his in-laws, John and Bonnie Lincoln, who thought of him as their son.

David “Bill” is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Lou Clark; son, David Clark II; sisters, Pam Hylton (Calvin) and Jane Webster (Robert); sister-in-law, Mary Clark; special niece, Melissa Grant (Kyle); and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts, especially Betty Graham. He had two dearly beloved dogs, Cody and Rusty.

David “Bill” served loyally as a six-year Vietnam era veteran of the United States Marine Corps, followed by 27 years of dedicated service with the United States Postal Service, retiring after his time as Buchanan Postmaster. He was recognized by the Buchanan Lion’s Club with the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in recognition of his years of dedicated service.

The family will have Celebration of Life Service on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 12:00pm at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019. A Visitation will be held one hour prior from 11:00am – 12:00pm at the same location. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Vinton Rescue Squad.
