Obituary of Thala Donald Adams

Thala Donald “Don” Adams passed away on December 5, 2023. He was 91 years young. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 67 years, Thelma Josephine “Jody” Adams. He was also predeceased by his parents, Thala Harpell Adams and Kathleen Moore Adams.

Don grew up in Lynchburg, Virginia, then went off to the Korean War as a U.S. Marine. He came home to marry his high school sweetheart. They then moved to Blacksburg, Virginia where he earned his Masters Degree. Upon graduating from VPI he taught Industrial Arts and Mechanical Engineering in the Engineering College. He had a love of fishing that started early with his father and was passed down to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his fishing rods.

He will be remembered by his children, Patrick Adams (Jan), Kathy Sirgy (Abraham), Mike Adams and Don Adams; his grandchildren, Matt Johnson (Lauren), Kristen Johnson (Lee), Jessica Hutchins (Ryan), Shane Adams, Christopher Miller (Leslie), Rebekah Miller; great-grandchildren, Elias, Jonah, Milo, Dakota, Tatum. Emma Rae, Ethan, Elliora, Addysen, Ella, Harper and Heidi. As well as cousins, friends, and fishing buddies.

No services are planned per his request. His family will spread his ashes at his favorite fishing spots between Canada and Florida. We love you dad. You will be missed.
