Obituary of John M. Younger, Jr.

John M. Younger, Jr., 80, husband of Melanie Younger, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. He was the son of the late John M. Younger, Sr. and Frances McKeever Younger. He was also preceded in death by a brother, David Younger.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Army and spent his career in commercial construction. He loved his family more than anything. They were his world and his grandchildren were his heart.

In addition to his wife of 29 years, he will be missed and remembered by his children, Chad Lucas Sawyer (Jessica) and Christina Victoria Jennings (Curtis); grandchildren, Ava Burkholder, Austin Sawyer, Aiden Sawyer, Siena Jennings, and Alise Jennings; brother, Richard Younger; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of John’s life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Grandin Court Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Roanoke Valley SPCA.
