Obituary of Harold Clinton Booth
Harold “Hal” Clinton Booth, 86, of Roanoke, passed into eternity with the Lord on Thursday, November 23, 2023.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anna S. Booth, who he shared life with for 58 years. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth C. Booth and Beatrice C. Booth; by his siblings, Shirley A. Austin, Michael J. Booth, Gary D. Booth and Steve V. Booth; and by a special son-in-law, C. David Light.
He is survived by his children, Teresa Phares (Doug), David Booth (Phyllis), and Laura Gilbert (Mark); by his grandchildren, Travis Light (Vanessa), Scott Phares, Shannon Booth, Daniel Booth (Symantha), Katie Booth and Ellie, Ashley Gilbert, Shane Gilbert (Autumn); by his great grandchildren, Skylar Coalter, Maddie Coalter, Barrett Light and Madi Booth; by his siblings, Gloria Sukut, Wayne Booth (Beverly), Eddie Booth (Teresa) and Judy Conner.
Hal served in the U.S. Air Force as a Radar Technician. In 1960, he returned to Roanoke and was employed by General Electric, Salem, for 37 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Roanoke City. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his family and his country. He enjoyed football and baseball seasons — especially Virginia Tech football, Washington Commanders football and Baltimore Orioles baseball.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all of his caregivers at Woodland Hills Assisted Living, Friendship Health and Rehab Center North and Lewis Gale Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Harold’s name to First Baptist Church, the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.
Services will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Simpson Funeral Home, Peters Creek Road Chapel. Interment will follow services at service time. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home. (540) 366-0707
