Obituary of Leslie Ellis Mize

Leslie Ellis MIze passed away peacefully on Sunday November 12, 2023 surrounded by family.  She was born in Richmond, Virginia on November 26, 1956 and was predeceased by her father Henry Grant Ellis, Jr., mother Eleanor Dauer Ellis and sister Sarah Ellis Floyd.

Leslie leaves behind her daughter Sarah Mize Rokicka and son Christopher Mize and wife Elaine as well as five grandchildren Alyssa, Gracie, Tyler, Michael and Leigh, and three great-grandchildren Grayson, Benjamin and Roman.  Also surviving are Leslie’s brothers Grant Ellis and wife Joy, Lou Ellis and wife Becky, and Russ Ellis and wife Kelly, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and a special cousin Polly Van Altena Jerrell.

Leslie lived most of her adult life in the Botetourt area, moving to Roanoke three years ago to a community where she found a special group of friends who were like family, especially her neighbor Robin.

The family is greatly comforted by the outreach of friends and loved ones.  Leslie was known by many as a considerate friend, thoughtful gift giver and one with a delightfully wicked sense of humor.

There will be a small private family service and celebration of life at a later date.
