Obituary of Laura Austin Deacon

Laura Jean Austin Deacon, 86, of Roanoke, went to be with her Lord on Monday, October 30, 2023.  She passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband by her side.  She was preceded in death by her parents, David Samuel Austin and Melissa Hannah Austin, and her sisters:  Mildred Aldredge, Aline Harper Eubank, and Betty Austin.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Boyd Daniel “BD” Deacon, Sr; and her children, Greg Deacon and wife Terry, Debbie Davidson, Danny Deacon, Mark Deacon and wife Crissy; Grandchildren, Amanda Davidson, Allison Davidson Thayer, Tyler Deacon, Molly Deacon Cox, Matthew Deacon, Maggie Deacon Hill, Ashley Deacon Witt and Brooke Deacon; Great grandchildren, Bailey Davidson, Kinsleigh Thayer, Darcy Deacon, Kennedy Kourim, Deacon Cox, Silas Hill and Ramsey Witt; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Judy Austin, brother-in law and sister-in-law Bolivar and Darlene Deacon and sister-in-law Nancy Deacon, along with many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice for the care and support they provided our family, with a special thank you to Diana Dunn, Shana Cowell and Krista Vaughn.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA.  Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Buchanan.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, November 5, 2023.
