Obituary of Ronald John Lingblom

Ronnie was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on July 22, 1956 to the late Robert G. and Judith E. Lingblom. The family moved to Roanoke, Virginia, in the late sixties where Ronnie attended Cave Spring High School. He worked for the family-owned business, Jumbo Pizza & Subs/ The Squeeze Inn, for a short period of time and then joined and served in the US Navy.

Ronnie enjoyed traveling thru out the United States where he met and made friends due to his great personality, warm smile and genuine love of people. He loved sports especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Ronnie’s love of the game of baseball made him decide to coach little league for a time. He also loved his music, he played the drums, bongos, congas, and harmonica. He was also a talented artist who loved painting and woodworking.

Ronnie had just recently been diagnosed with an aggressive cancer that took his life within three weeks. He died at home surrounded by his fiancé Kathleen Malone, and sister in love, Donna Smith. Also left to cherish his memory are his son Ronnie Jr.; granddaughter, Quinnci; Kathleen’s son, John; his brothers, Robert and Richard Lingblom; his sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Pete Spoto; brother and sister in love, Donna and Roger Smith. Also surviving Ronnie is half-sister Merissa Dehaven and husband Howard. Ronnie also leaves behind his Woburn, Massachusetts family Auntie Jeanne, Marie, Deanne, Jack, Julie, and Vanessa Lingblom; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved their “Uncle Ronnie:” As well as his constant companion and furbaby Bentley.
