Obituary of Jean Elizabeth Oxley
Jean Elizabeth Oxley (Rogers) passed away on August 19, 2023, at the age of 79 in Fincastle, Virginia. She was born on August 12, 1944, in Schenectady, New York. Jean was a talented and creative artist, specializing in weaving tartans, as well as working with paints, stained glass, and wood. Her artistic pursuits brought joy and beauty to many.
Jean is survived by her stepdaughter, Kate Lear (Eric), her grandchildren, Chelsea Shumate (Paul) and Alex Lear, and her niece, Jennifer Philpot and Bruce Rogers. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Oxley, her father, George Rogers, her mother, Florence, and her brother, Tom Rogers.
A private memorial to celebrate Jean's life will be held later, allowing her closest friends and family to come together in remembrance. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Heartland Hospice, an organization that provides compassionate care to those in need.
Jean Elizabeth Oxley will be remembered for her artistic talent, her love for animals, and her gregarious nature. Her creative spirit and dedication to her craft will continue to inspire and touch the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
