Obituary of Evelyn F. Meadors

Evelyn F. Meadors arrived at her heavenly home on Sunday, August 27, 2023. She had been preparing for this day since March 1960, when she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior.

She was born in Ironto, VA, the daughter of Carl & Clarsie Sarver Furrow. She is preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Carol Ann, and her brother, Kenneth. Surviving are are her brothers, Buford Furrow of Olympia Washington and Bobby Furrow of Anderson, SC.

Evelyn was married on November 19, 1949 to Robert J. Meadors who passed away in 1993 after 44 years of marriage. Also preceded in death are 2 of her children, Diane Rebecca Mask and Robert Wayne Meadors. Surviving is her son Larry D. Meadors and his wife Gloria of Dublin, VA; grandchildren, Tony Jarrett, Maria Hannah, Jacob Meadors and Timothy Meadors; as well as numerous great-grandchildren.

Evelyn was a hard worker and a committed employee of many businesses in her work career including, Bowmans Bakery, Rowe Furniture, Roanoke Mills, Kenrose, Yale Lock plant, Singer Furniture, Mackee Food Service, Roanoke College Food Services and others.

She was a long-time member of New Life Christian Ministries, where she was active in the prayer ministry and widows group. She was a financial supporter of many Christian ministries especially world missions.

Services to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 1, 2023 in the Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road with Rev. Walter Wood officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
