Obituary of Cleatus Lee Gavin

Please share a memory of Cleatus to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Cleatus Lee Gavin, 93, of Fincastle, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 27, 2023. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Edna Alice Gavin.

He was also preceded in death by his son, Darrell Leslie Maddix.

He is survived by his children, Edward Maddix, Sharon Leiby, Camella Gavin, Crystal Davis (Randy), and Vera Wilson (Scott); grandchildren, Michelle Francisco (Rick), Tracy Finnerty (Marty), Scott Leiby, Rhonda Zinn, John Langlois, Darrell Maddix Jr. (Michelle), Trent Maddix, Tristan Maddix, Victoria (Tori) Dimas, Mihail Dimas (Brittanie), Gavin McDougal, Ryan McDougal (Rachel), Dawson Davis, Bailey Davis, Brianna Davis, Hailey Davis, Jackson Davis (Kayleigh), Samuel Davis, Micah Davis, Emma Claire Nipper (Jakob), Caroline Dodson (Hunter), and Eli Wilson; a plethora of great grandchildren; and sisters, Genella Gavin and Catherine Alfaro.

Cleat was hard working; he retired after 43 years from Ford Motor Company. He was generous with his time and talents. He loved spending time with friends and family; the larger the crowd the better.  He welcomed all into his home, for short or long visits.  With a clever sense of humor, Cleat always landed a zinger and kept the crowd laughing. If you fortunate enough to know him, you know of his extreme generosity, and his love for his LORD.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4pm on October 7th , 2023 at 2653 Botetourt Road, Fincastle.
