Obituary of Anna Maria Cooper

Anna Maria Cooper, 64, of Roanoke Virginia passed away on Sunday August 13, 2023 in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.   The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. 

Maria is survived by her two daughters, Tatiana Cooper, Makayla Cooper; granddaughter, Maliyah Cooper; mother, Mary Ann Yoakam; sister, Kathryn Cuddy; and brother, Gary Cooper. She also leaves behind a nephew, Joshua Cuddy. 

Maria was preceded in death by her father, Gary E. Cooper SR., and sister, Donyae' Cooper.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Cardiac Critical Care unit at Novant Health Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte North Carolina for the remarkable medical care that was provided to her. We are forever grateful.

Maria was a very loving, kind and gentle woman. She had an infectious laugh, and gave the best hugs. She was a true nurturer. She loved to garden. She also enjoyed a wide variety of music. She loved animals especially her "grandpitts" as she called them. Maria loved her two daughters incredibly.  Her pride and joy was her granddaughter Maliyah.  She adored her and could go nowhere without sharing how smart and beautiful her granddaughter is.  Maria will be missed so very much.  There is now such a void in our lives. We do know she is looking down, watching over us.  This brings us some comfort.  She will forever be in our hearts.
