Obituary of Kenneth Lynn Riding

Kenneth L. Riding, 76, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 31, 2023. He was born in Utah and was the son of the late Thomas and Maud Coon Riding.

Kenneth was recruited by the FBI straight after high school and went on to spend his entire career in law enforcement. Following the FBI, he worked for and retired from the Arlington Police Department. After moving to Roanoke, he worked for the Virginia State Crime Lab before retiring again. He was active in sports his entire life, and played softball, tennis, golf and pickleball with friends. He was an accomplished guitar player and singer. Ken had a knack for remembering and telling jokes and stories. He lived life to the fullest.

He will be missed and remembered by his life partner, Susan Lunsford; his daughter, Rachel Pederson (Chris); sister, Donna Mae Waldron; special cousin, Lynn Coon (Luann); as well as numerous life-long friends, too many to mention.

A Celebration of Kenneth’s life will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Northminster Presbyterian Church with Pastor Russ Merritt officiating.
